*huge thanks to Ring Come True for gifting me this ring. Also thank you, my readers, for supporting the brands that make my blog possible. Lots of love to you all!
Have you always dreamed about a huge rock on your finger? I did 🙂
This winter I was researching engagement rings and came across an Instagram account of a private jeweler Ring Come True in Toronto, Canada, that makes absolutely gorgeous custom engagement rings (and wedding bands, and more!). Got in touch with them and Shir, the owner, was so incredibly sweet and knowledgeable and helpful!
We started working on this beautiful ring – I’ve selected the frosted Juno design with emerald cut moissanite and lab diamond band, in yellow gold. The size of this moissanite is 10*8 millimeters what’s equal to 3.5 carat.
It arrived here a week ago and I couldn’t be happier with it! It’s perfectly made and oh it’s sparkle is unbelievable!
Let me tell you more about moissanite in case you are like me – I didn’t even know about it until a few months ago!
Moissanite is a gemstone that was found in Arizona, in a crater created by a meteorite that fell on Earth. Moissanite is so rare, it can only be created in a laboratory which means it’s absolutely ethical, conflict-free, and eco-friendly!
It’s almost as hard as diamond – it scores 9.25 on the Mohs “hardness” scale, and the only gemstone that’s harder is diamond (which is 10.0). It’s the second hardest gemstone on Earth! Which means moissanite is incredibly durable and will be in your family for decades.
Moissanite’s brilliance is different – well, it’s actually “sparklier”, than a diamond! It’s refractive index is 2.65, which is higher than a diamond. Moissanite’s dispersion exceeds that of any gemstone, including diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald. It emits rainbow flashes and I can see some yellow, green and even pink colours when it’s sunny outside.
It’s also way, waaaaay more affordable than a diamond of the same carat weight. Here are some pictures – isn’t it just a PERFECTION?!
